How accurate is freecreditreport.com

Recommended Posts

longshooter - freecreditreport and TC are basically the same thing, but products of different companies. TC is run by TU, and freecreditreport.com is Experian's child. "which one is the most accurate"? 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Honestly, there is no true answer to that queastion, since NO lender will be using the exact same score algorithm to pull your score. Both those scores are not "true" FICO scores, FYI.

choosenone - Like I said above - freecreditreport is not a FICO. "good for monitoring only..." yes that's right.

My question then is before you go for a loan which is the best way to check your true credit score ? I will be buying a new bassboat in 6-12 months if my score gets close to 700 and the cash is still there. I was curious were I should go to pull a score before I goto the boat shop to make my purchase

By going to www.myfico.com and pulling your FICO scores. That's the only place to get true FICO scores (except some bank cards give you access to a FICO as a fringe benefit to your account). Be aware these are still not the same numbers your mortgage lender will see, but the ones you should rely on.

How accurate is freecreditreport.com ? I ask because I pulled all the reports from them and my Experian was 660, trans was 660 and eq was 641. I pulled all 3 at truecredit and my experian was 613, trans was 629 and my eq was 584  Which one is the most accurate?

Well freecreditreport may give you FICO score. I know that truecredit gives what we call FAKO scores. I use true credit, and my fico. Myfico has the real credit scores.
