Flipper
There's an account with Torres Collections on my CRBs in the amount of $927. The account status shows it's "closed". Yet, they are reporting every month to the CRBs. This is an electric bill from Com Ed. I contacted Com Ed, got a copy of the statement and sent them a check for 1/3 of the balance via Certified Mail, which they signed for, almost two weeks ago. I'm sending them two more payments to satisfy the balance on the account in full. The check has not been presented for payment at my bank yet and this CA is reporting the debt on an account that showed 30 day payment terms and has been showing as closed since 12/06. Is it kosher for a closed account to be continually reported? Not sure about this one. I will not hesitate to dispute it, as I have no intention of ever paying the CA and I'm pretty much going backdoor on them anyway, because the debt it legit and I want to pay it off....just not to them. razr
Finish paying off the debt. When you have proof in hand, then dispute with the CRAs. -r
Flipper
Aside from me being a little confused as to why Com Ed hasn't yet deposited the check I wrote (another discussion for another time, I suppose), on what grounds would I dispute after it's paid off? Here's another question....if Com Ed never deposits these checks, then have I really paid the debt? This stuff gets way too complicated for a simpleton like me!
