mrmac913
HSBC/Direct Merchant who is the OC has sent me a notice advising that they have sold the account to a CA (West Asset Mgmnt). Although the OC states that its balance shows $0 the CA has never tried to contact me re any outstanding balance. Since the OC is shown on my CR as a charge off of $3,888 should I contact CA and settle to remove/replace the "transfered, closed/account, charge off?" with "paying as agreed", or should I wait to hear from the CA? willingtocope
Wait to hear from them. If it was sold to a junk debt buyer, they paid pennies on the dollar for the right to hassle you. You have no reason to make their job any easier. It won't help your credit...
mrmac913
thanks, so I guess there is no way to remove the charge off by the OC?!
willingtocope
If the OC's balance says $0, then whatever negative impact the CO has will lessen with time...don't worry about it.
