Which CCs tend to be generous with their credit line?

But has anyone ever been denied from the BOA Secured card? If so why would they? Also do they do a hard pull? I was trying to find that.

I just dropped $1000 for a new 4 digit TL. I need to sock drawer permanently the Rewards 660 until I've had them for a year (November).

BoA does 2 hard pulls, one to get approved and the other before they send out the card. I've heard of some people around here getting denied for either burning BoA at one time or another or their credit was that bad.

I had an old MBNA charge off that is now BOA does anybody think that they would deny me for that?

Yeah I got a pull from BOA show up on my EX. MY EQ is in dire need of the 4 digit TL due to the lack of Crown Jewelers not getting on there. If CJ were reporting to all 3....I'd be 600+ accross the board. Circumstances with cash prevented me from doing a secured with anyone until today but I was looking and looking at who I wanted a secured with. Based on the posts here as well as my own independent research, I went with them, now I hope they hook me up. A very important baddie fell off my EX today so I hope BOA got to see that. That'll get elaborated, of course, in another thread. But it did warrant a trip to Myfico to see what my "sucker" score was.:lol:

Yes they will. I've seen people get denied on other forums for burning MBNA and a couple here just the other night but I can't remember who it was. :?

Above: They will be doing another pull on your EX shortly after they receive your payment and when they send out the card. If they already approved you initially and sent in the form your application produced along with the payment. There should be no problem, especially if you had more baddies fall off since.

Thanks Isis. Hopefully I'll hear from them soon. Did you fund your secured from a BOA checking account? How long did it take from the time you applied to the time they took the loot? I understand it will take at least 3 weeks...argh!

I didn't do the checking account till after I had my card. Was on Chexsystems and wasn't sure if I would even get an account. But from the time I mailed in the payment to when I got the card was about 3 weeks. One thing to bring up. Not sure how you would pay on the card but once you get it, you can only pay on it using the checking account or mailing in your payment. I was originally paying through my savings account at work and it created a huge mess because their system couldn't recognize it anymore after adding the BoA checking account.

I just set up direct deposit from my job with BOA. So I had planned on paying them through my Online Bill Pay, same as my other bills. Thing about them that I like as opposed to my other bank, except for my landlady and one other bill, all of my bills are next day delivery (electronic).

Yeah I know, I love my BoA checking account. I have a checking and savings with NFCU and won't get rid of it. I find it helps me with how much moving around in money I do nowadays in managing my bill pays as well as savings. I get my paycheck going into NFCU and my child support and DF check goes into BoA. NO, I can't trust him to manage his own finances so I get all the money. lol

I can't blame you. About 2 years ago, I used to be the same way as your DF. Ever since I sat down and reevaluated my goals, I had to pretty much start cutting alot of stuff out and start paying my bills in a timely matter. It was not easy. One of my motivators was the fact that I have a DF of my own to take care of. If it weren't for her, I probably would not have gotten my focus to pay my bills the way they need to be paid. Between that, and utilizing my bank's online bill pay, I have never overdrafted, I stopped using the ATM machine other than for those purchases you have to pay cash(like a haircut at a hometown barber, for example). What little money I do get, I put in my HSBC Online Savings (no minimum balance, no monthly fee and $1 to open one up...right now they're at 3.05% APY).

Everything my parents tried to teach but I just gave them the mental finger, I now do when it comes to paying bills on time. It ties in to my credit repair as well. I really owe a lot to her...and she is clueless about how credit works. But this definitely never flew in my parents' household. The guy worked, the wife took care of everything else. Times have definitely changed...and in that regard I don't mind it so much.

I have the same problem right now... my DW is not growing with me on this. She appreciates my helping to fix her credit but doesn't really understand the process, so low and behold I'll pull a report and see 4 new inquiries because she thought " I fixed her credit, what happened?". NO NO NO!!!

So I prepaid for her to get a secured Orchard card with a $250 limit, and then a target card. She immediately runs them up and then tries to give me $20 to make an online payment for her. I just about always end up making a $100+ sympathy payment for her because I know she's going to get screwed and go over her limit... but then she gets an e-mail that I made a large payment, and instead of just appreciating bailing her out, she runs it back up with tanning services and spa days and monthly Curves memberships and also some of the most ridiculous perishables that won't exist in a month's time. She hits target constantly. I've told her she can keep ALL of her money from work, doesn't even have to pay so much as a utility... her job is to keep us in bathroom and laundry needs and that's it... but she's always broke and run up on the cards.

It's really wearing on me. I used to collect her check and pay things as I see fit, but figured out it was costing me so much more that way, as she would mentally use the same $100 contribution to justify several times that in purchases and just refuses to keep track realistically. SO I cut her off, won't accept her money or pay her bills. I've done what I can and she's going to have to figure it out on her own. I want her to grow and understand, but she's a shopaholic... says it fills a "void", which I guess is ME at this point.

I just don't know, I need to stop the hemmorhaging and at this point no solution is off the table. It is beginning to invade our relationship. I'm mixed on it because I know that I was the one that made changes, she's just stayed the same, so I don't know how valid any threat I can make really is, as she can justify my new way as unfair to her.

It's really on me to get a home in order once I graduate, and I'm just going to have to buy something that I can qualify for on my income alone. Her's would only add about 20% to household income anyway. She also continues to accrue unpaid medical expenses... just throws away the notices. I picked one out of many to pay $50 a month on, but it's a plug in one crack of the damn and probably a waste of money as we have no real assets, I'm not on the accounts, and she waitresses so they can't really garnish. Plus they're so fragmented these bills that I doubt any one of them would come after her.

I'd take any advice, but I could also see myself giving advice to someone else on this matter, so I know first-hand it doesn't always work even though by all rational thought the arguments should prevail.

You want more and better, this is REALLY how you do it, not by filling daily gaps with perishables that bring minimal satisfaction.

She's your DW...her problem is your problem in exactly the same way as her debt is your debt. Right now, you are her enabler. She is not getting it like the rest of us is because she sees you as the one that will provide the big money needs. So she feels that it's ok for her to just spend with reckless abandon.

I don't know how bad it's gotten, but therapy/counseling could be one option. Or a real serious talking to. Sometimes these things have a way of working themselves out with a good heart-to-heart.

Just keep this mind....it's cheaper to keep her. :)

Good luck my Hippo Friend.
