I'm posting this to help/give heads up to anyone with the Chevron card who is interested in a CLI. I recently was approved for an additional GEMB card and have been approved for two prime cards with nice limits lately. All three scores are in the high 600s. So I called Chevron and requested a CLI and was denied.

I received the letter yesterday and the reasons were as follows:

Present or past delinquencies on trades. (I have not had a delinquency in two years and it was a single 30 day late in June 06. Before that, the most recent late was in 2003 .)

# trades with delinquency in last 12 months. (Here is an illustration of what happens when there are errors in the reporting process. I disputed an old TL recently and the CA updated in March. This TL has not had a balance since 2003 so I should have left it alone. The update made it look like a recent late. I have no delinquencies in the last 12 months. Check your reports and TrueCredit's analysis of your credit for errors. That is how I discovered this. Because just looking at the TL doesn't tell me what the problem is. It just looks like an OLD late.

Age of oldest bankcard (for me: 4 years...not much I can do about this)

So hopefully this info. might help those of you looking for CLIs with GEMB (or cards). I was mostly "victimized" by a single tradeline that is reporting incorrectly...but if any of these factors legitimately apply to you (or if you too have reporting errors), get them cleaned up before trying to do business w/ GEMB or Chevron!

HTH!! :)

I just got a few weeks ago a $300 CLI when I hit the CLI request button under the customer service tab, on my online account. I also called and spoke to a CSR and she informed me that you can request a CLI every 4 months guaranteed whether or not you have used the funds. I she also told me that you can withdraw funds from this card like a credit card. That's pretty cool if you’re planning a trip. I hope this information helps. Thanks.

On a regular Chevron card? This is not a credit card with a Visa logo - it's just the Chevron/Texaco card.

I think the chevron did have something about being able to get cash advance. I am going to check on the cli thing. wonder if they will do a hard pull. I'll let you know how it works out.

Ok went to my account, a regular chevron card. You can request a cli under the customer service tab. I clicked the link, and was eligible for a 200 increase.

Here is the info on the cash advance, got this from the FAQ section

Q: Is everyone eligible for cash access? back to top

A: No, you must have a credit line of $500 or more to have cash available on your credit line. Your account must remain open and in good standing.

Q: Do I need a PIN in order to get cash? back to top

A: Yes, please call 1-800-CHEVRON to request a PIN to be mailed to you.

Q: Can I select a PIN number? back to top

A: No, currently PIN numbers are system generated.

Q: How much cash can I get? back to top

A: 20% of your credit line. There may also be limits on the number of cash transactions and/or the amount of cash that can be withdrawn in one day.

Q: Where can I get cash? back to top

A: At ATM's displaying the Cirrus symbol in the US and Canada

Q: What are the fees for cash? back to top

A: See your cardholder terms and conditions (5%: $5 min no cap, APR same as purchase P+14.99%). The bank owning the ATM may assess additional fees.

The information I provided is for the Chevron basic gas card. I checked my CR and they didn’t pull anything, just like my Dillard's card. I will be hitting the love button in May for my Dillard's and Chevron again in August.
