BTO429
I have a judgment that was settled. It shows on EQ and TU as settled but EX only reports that it is filed. I disputed with all three cra's and TI and EQ results of the investigation was the judgment was changed to settled. EX flat refuses to re investigate or change it to settled. Ahntara
Color me confused...Legal actions require their proper legal disposition. "Settled" is not a disposition. I don't understand why EQ and TU changed your CR to show it. But EX is doing nothing wrong ignoring this designation. Such a notation may cause (future potential) lenders to relax about this issue, but it's still unresolved. The dispositions for a judgment are Satisfaction of Judgment and Order to Vacate Judgment.Legal items only appear on a CR because of they have the potential to cloud ownership on property. So getting them resolved, disposed and recorded is a must if you own or hope to purchase real estate in the next decade. While it can be frustrating to see differing versions of the same item on your consumer files, the CRA's are business competitors. There files don't have to match or sync up, with the exception of a Fraud Alert. The law requires they share, and match, that type of information, only. BTO429
So do I still need to have the judgment vacated? The court docket sheet says the court files were destroyed under administrative rule number 41. It is from 97for 272 dollars. It was for some money A local college says I still owe them . Ahntara
IMO, yes, you still need to obtain a Vacate. I can only tell you that 'settled' is not a sufficient disposition for a judgment. Perhaps you could post this in the lawyer forum, with all the details. Robert Nashville and Debt Guy, while not attorneys, often chime in with good stuff and perhaps an actual attorney looks things over there.
