SafeRent pulls CR for Landlord

Recommended Posts

I just moved in to rent a condo in our area. I gave the property manager permission to run my credit. Now instead of my landlord showing up as a soft inquiry on my CRA this SafeRent is. I never gave SafeRent permission to pull credit. Does giving the Landlord permission to check credit also give SafeRent a blanket permission to check my credit? I know that it is only a soft inquiry, but what do they do with the data after it is pulled. I had several items that are being disputed and SafeRent still showed that they were there. I had documentation that I was disputing the entries and thanks to a very nice property manager was able to rent, but the entry was still showing anyways without a notation for dispute.

It appears that your landlord uses that company to get your credit report and/or other info about, so by giving your landlord permission to pull your credit report you extended that permission to the company he utilizes to do the actual pull, SafeRent.

I'm not sure what the complaint is? You gave permission for the pull, SafeRent pulled on your landlord's behalf and gave the info to him/her.

The issue is that they pulled from EX and reported a TL that I have an active dispute with EX, however there was nothing indicated that there was an active dispute. EX actually shows that the dispute was logged in their system on 6 April, and the SafeRent report was pulled on 11 April. These guys take the data from the CRA and repackage it without indicating that there are any disputes.

Truthfully, I think you are making a mountain out of a molehill here. You weren't denied the apt/condo. They were nice enough to pull a soft vs. a hard which they would have been within their rights to do thereby not effecting your score.

Where's your proof that they "repackaged" the data supplied by EX? Your passion and focus can be more beneficial redirected on your repair efforts.

Just my opinion. ;)

When you gave the landlord theright to pull your credit, it's their option to use a residential screening service like SafeRents.

I just pulled my SafeRents report. According to their literature they are considered a CRA and are subject to FCRA. They have a dispute process and everything. You can dispute the same way you would dispute with EX. However, SafeRents is affiliated with EX, so eventually, your dispute and the results will flow over.
