daheata
I had an IRS tax lien of $23,027 that was recorded in GA in July 2007. This stemmed from late tax returns where the IRS filed the return on my behalf. When I filed the returns in question, my actual tax liability was determined to be only $3,500 and the IRS reduced it to that amount. This week, I paid the outstanding amount in full. My order of preferred results would be as follows:1. Complete removal of the tax liens from all 3 CRAs.2. Correction of the lien amount (from $23K to $3K) and account shown as paid in full by CRAs.3. No correction of lien amount but account showed as paid in full by CRAs.I just confirmed with the IRS over the phone that my account now has a zero balance. What are my next steps? I don't want to do anything to ruin the possibility of having this lien removed from my credit report. Does anyone have experience getting tax liens removed who could provide some guidance? admin
Your tax lien will just show as paid. It doesn't just come off because it was paid. Per the FCRA, it stays on 7 years from the time it was paid, not entered. Although nothing is stopping you from challenging the validity of the tax lien with the CRAs.
