Focus2069
I had a car loan that was late several times. 2-3 60 day lates and about 10 30 day lates....most of them were not my fault, the US Army fianance department was responsible for 7-8 of those lates, the other 30-day lates were mine. It is showing as a negative item on my credit report, though the lates were from 02-03 (when i was in the Army) and the other 30-day lates were from nov. 04 to mar. 05I know account history is a good portion of my credit score, but should I try to get this off my credit report? I have 3 other paid off car loans, and I dont think this one needs to stay, but I want to get the experts opinions. I have heard of some lates helping my "sucker" score, but i think this one is a bit much....the car has since been paid off and traded in.oh, the status is: paid, closed/current; was past due 60 days
TTigggers
Well if you have enough other accounts for a good history I would say try to get rid of it or at least try to get some of the lates removed.Maybe try a good will letter to the OC or a Dispute with the CRA's if your not worried about loosing the TL. Amerikaner83
Agreed.I'd try disputing as "never late" with the CRAs - see where that gets you. If verified, then you can GW to the OC. But IMHO, lates that are that old arent' really hurting you all that much.
Focus2069
ok, as soon as this round of disputes comes back, that will be on my next round. quick question...i dispute as "never late" and they (the oc) doesnt reply, does the whole trade line get deleted or just the lates? I will try the GW letter if the disputes dont work, I had 2 other accounts with the same company (3 total) and those 2, thankfully the Army didnt screw up, lol.thanks! Amerikaner83
if the OC does not reply, then the whole TL gets deleted. That's one potential "side effect" of disputing.
TTigggers
The whole TL goes bye bye.Maybe you should try the goodwill letter first.
