virginiabound
Well...filling up the truck at $50 every other day (Sometimes EVERY day) convinced DH and I that we needed to do something. We applied for a car loan through NFCU and though it took 8 business days (I was NOT a happy camper by that day...too slow in my opinion for various reasons) they pre-approved us for up to $22,000 at 10.75%DH's Ficos has dropped a bit since having so many new CCs (and util is a little high, but we'll work on that when tax money arrives), and my Ficos are getting there, just have 8 months of history. (Good news is, they are all in the 600s and will get higher). So 10.75% is about right for us. We'll re-finance in a year.We got ourselves a 2009 Toyota Corolla S for $19,790 or about $375/month.I'll be making the payments on this bi-weekly and should have absolutely no problems. I'm working more hours, and DH should be getting a nice change in pay grade in July (HOPING!) which will help also.

virginiabound
Thanks everyone. We're very happy with the car, and pleased that DH's credit is much better now than it was when he got his 2001 Ford Ranger in Dec. 2005. His APR for that is 18.75%!We'll make the payments on time for a year, and then go back to NFCU to re-finance. Unlike CitiFinancial Auto (his other car loan) you can actually re-finance the loan with them.By then, I should be making a heck of a lot more, same with DH and our scores should have improved even more. jq26
We got ourselves a 2009 Toyota Corolla S for $19,790 or about $375/month.Congrats and great car. The real cost of ownership has a lot to do with depreciation, gas, and insurance. You'll save a bundle. Smart move!!!
