ABaldbrotha Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 (edited) 2 months ago, I got a letter from NCO regarding a bank account I allegedly defaulted on. This account was opened by an unknown person and then the information was stolen by someone out of Florida. All of this was done under my name. I Dv'd the matter, and today, NCO sends me a letter indicating, "We no longer have the account." What a bunch of dumb asses!________Vaporizer affiliate Edited May 15, 2011 by ABaldbrotha
ABaldbrotha Posted April 22, 2008 Author Report Posted April 22, 2008 (edited) The entire thing was fraud to begin with. I never opened or had the account. These collecton agencies are something else.________LovelyWendie99 Edited May 15, 2011 by ABaldbrotha
Focus2069 Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 i have one of those "we no longer have the account" letters from them too.unfortunatley, they probably sold it...so I await the next sucker CA to send me a letter.
LeslieR Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 OP I'd be highly concerned about this situation. Someone fraudulently opened a bank account using all of your information? I would not consider NCO's closure of this account a victory but just another step in fixing this mess. I am sure they sold the account, but even if they didn't, I would want to ensure that I was safeguarded against this happening again and find out if in fact someone stole my identity in this way!!!! And if so, I would press on to get something done about it.
swirlgirl Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 I would file the ID Theft paperwork on this just to make sure you're covered in case this pops up again.
JustaTexan Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 I second Leslie and Swirgirl's suggestions. Good luck!
ABaldbrotha Posted April 23, 2008 Author Report Posted April 23, 2008 (edited) Thank you all for your input. I filed the police report with the NYPD 2 months ago. I also have the "security freeze" and fraud alerts on my reports. My employer ran a check for me and informed me there is no criminal activity on NCIC under my name. So, having said all of that, I am good for now. That is, if they even had the right information. There is another person with my name that CA's often call my house for. It comes up in the skip tracer and phone book.________Vaporizer affiliates Edited May 15, 2011 by ABaldbrotha

ABaldbrotha Posted April 25, 2008 Author Report Posted April 25, 2008 (edited) They never reported to any CRA.________Ship Sale Edited May 15, 2011 by ABaldbrotha
Jason Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 Well that is good that they never reported. I had been bothered by them too at one time. I sent a DVL; they removed, and never heard back from them.PS Check your e-mail.
