do the scores not go up....if 7K is deleted?

Recommended Posts

hi!....i would first like to say that i found this site...and i'm addicted.....and ive told everyone i know about it...so thanks sooo much!

ok...long story short....got a cc with my ex BEFORE we married.....with a 5000 limit....we paid it once....then let it go.....anyway, up to present day now...

i have started my credit repair journey....ordered my reports in feb 08....saw that cc on my report.....sent letters, called original creditor and the collections people....i disputed it, from advice i recieved on cic... i was only listed as an authorized user, and in fact i have no underlying liability

......then id say in april it was removed from all 3 reports...so my total debt has gone from approx 11 K to 4 K.....why hasnt my score reflected this? id think that this would improve how i look to lenders etc...... im still sitting at approx 594...any thoughts or advice are greatly appreciated.....

Now you say your score hasn't changed. Is it your Fico or Fako score that you're referring to? Just because your Fako score doesn't change doesn't mean your Fico hasn't changed. Ficos are the ones that matter anyways, not Fako and the only place to get real Fico scores is www.myfico.com.

First, you have to allow about 30-45 days for everything to update before you can judge whether something you've done affects your FICO's. CRAs update on various cycles...FICO pull your report as of the day your scores are calculated, so, if your reports haven't update yet, the work with old data.

But, assuming it has been long enough for the updates to have been done, the FICO score that you're allowed to see...the "consumer score"...is pretty close to the FICO "bank card score". If the 7k was in the negative column, its going away is not going to change your score much, particularly if the remaining 4K is also negative.
