khartle2
What is the best way to get a charged-off account deleted? I had a credit card account go into collections about a year ago and I was able to get it taken care of with PFD yeah!...Now the only bad mark on my CR is the "charged-off" account entry from the OC which is AMEX grrr...What can I do about this? I doubt a goodwill letter would work, what about DV? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
LeslieR
Why do you want to get it removed? Is it inaccurate? Charge-offs are very difficult to get removed, even when they are placed on somebody's report in error. A credit card company isn't likely to comply with a goodwill request on a charge-off...think of it this way...they already ate the debt. Unfortunately, if the debt is yours, you will most likely be living with it until it's no longer reportable. Keep an eye on it and make sure it's not beyond the reporting time frame. The good news is, the older it gets, the less impact it will have on your score. That's great news since you say there's little else that's negative on your reports. If the account wasn't yours or if there are any errors in the tradeline that you have documentation to back up your case on, then by all means, DV. khartle2
Unfortunately it is mine...I'll have to take a closer look at their reporting to make sure it's accurate and if it's not I guess I'm off to do DV. I just wanted it off because it's the only thing negative and I guess I'm a perfectionist Thanks for the feedback!
LeslieR
Try disputing it through the CRAs and see what happens.
