maaj
Well this last spree was fun! I applied for Kay's and was approved for $6300. I applied for JB Robinson and was approved (guessing for $6300) and I just called Hooters to check on the processing of my application and was told I was approved! I am not sure of the CL for my Hooters card. I will be through now with my applications for a while, that is unless someone can tell me a Visa I may be approved through considering my recent approvals of these TL's. Any suggestions????? LeslieR
From this and your last post, it looks like you are really wanting a "Visa." Not sure why. I wouldn't be so concerned about whether you have a Visa, MC, AMEX. Your goal should be a prime card with any logo on it. The cards you now have will be stepping stones to those. Good work so far! While most people "opt out" of credit card offers, if you really want a card, I'd allow yourself to "opt in." You will get "prequal" letters -- these are not guaranteed acceptances, but the better cards I've been able to get (BofA, WaMu) have resulted from my responding to those pre-screened "invitations to apply." dazedandconfusedincali
Go for Orchard Gold Visa Card 2% cash back and interest isn't so bad. I like it and they give upgrades.
AboveAverage
See if you can go for a BOA 99/500 Visa. (You have to apply for a regular BOA card and then be offered a 99/500 if you are declined). You pay 99 bucks but you get $500 limit. Good luck and enjoy your Hooters [card]. maaj
Thanks to everyone. I guess I need to do a little more research about whether or not it matters as to what card you have (Visa, MC, etc.) I was assuming it did make a difference and it was harder to get a Visa since I have yet been approved for a Visa yet I have 3 MC's now since I was approved for Hooters. LeslieR
Thanks to everyone. I've never heard that before. If First Premier gives out Visas, I don't think they are that prestigious. (Which they do, but there is no way I would recommend that you sail on that ship. Since you have Hooters, you certainly are out of FP-territory). I still say just look for a prime card (low or no annual fees, certainly no monthly fee, low interest rate [even if you plan to PIF, that's a sign of a prime card], a higher CL with potential for increases, and perhaps rewards). I know there are lots of Cap1 haters here, but go to their "card lab" on their site. They'll soft pull (I think?...or not pull at all) and give you a range of cards you're eligible for. I got their Platinum Plus Visa with 1% cash rewards, 0% for I don't know how long, and a $1000 CL with an auto-increase of $500 on the fourth statement. There is an annual fee, but it's one I could live with (maybe $29?)
sgip2000
The differences between Visa and MasterCard are that most "conventional" banks offer Visa and most "credit card" banks offer MasterCard.
