Only received 2 out of 7 writ of garnishments

Hi,

This is my first time posting on the forum and visiting the website. I just wanted to say that seems to be the most reputable source of information I have found during hours upon hours of researching this broad topic of debt on the Internets. :)

I'm dealing with the fraudulent Unifund company and Suttell and Associates is handling the strong arm tactics of forcing the money from my paycheck via writ of garnishment on my wages.

I was under the impression that a writ of garnishment in Washington state was for 6 months at a time. So, when I only received a writ of garnishment every 6 months (been 1 year; I received 2) I figured the 250 dollar charges for 'attorney fees' (gee, a guy filling out numbers on a prefilled form and dropping off costs 250 bucks huh)

However, my debt was astronomical and after a lot of research (and resistance from the collection law firm) I have determined that I was instead charged the 250 every 2 months. The county clerk told me there have been 7 garnishment periods!

I called the Suttel firm and they said that I should have received all 7 of the writ of garnishment papers. I then asked for them to provide me certified mailings of this documents. The guy on the phone wasn't sure what to do and told me he would call me back.

Do I have any legal standing for not receiving all court documents in the mail? If I had known I was being garnished every two months, you better believe I would have done something about it.

(If anyone is curious, this was an old CC I used to help pay my mortgage during some tough times and I eventually lost the house but apparently still have the CC debt. The credit limit on the CC was 2k and I never spent anything over that. The debt ballooned to to 8,500 from their charges when they started garnishing)

Thanks everyone!

Welcome! From your above statement, what would you have done? There was a judgment in place and your wages were being garnished. What were the allowed attorney's fees as indicated in the actual judgment?

You may want to pull a copy of the court file. It should show the complete history of whatever writs were filed.
