chewba1
I have a quick question for anyone out there. If I get sued (i am self employed) can my husbands paycheck be garnished??? I was trying to find this info and keep coming up with conflicting info. Anyone out there have any ideas. We live in Florida
jq26
No. They can't garnish your husband's check.
chewba1
No. They can't garnish your husband's check. Thanks!! I had been searching through Florida Laws for judgments and garnishment and I think it said that someone self employed is kind of home safe on that but I was worried that they would go to my husbands job and take out of him. We also have joint bank accounts so that scares me. We have no assets, don't own the cars (the banks do), don't have any savings and although we get pay checks and my husband has a va disability check we still are struggling with our finances. A lot of charge offs and Tooooo many repayment agreements thanks to law suits we just can't handle anymore and still put food on the table and keep the electric on. kydraftsman73
If I were you I'd set up a separate bank account for yourself and get your name off the joint account, for if they garnish the bank account your husbands money will be gone

I had set up three accounts with our names on it just so that when I pay these jdb's there money they don't get my good family account. I suppose it would be a good idea to just take my name off of the good one and let them have the nothing that is in the other two.
