Removing "Paid Account" off your CR

I have 2 negative accounts on my credit which I have recently paid off but they still remain on my CR as negatives. I want to get these cleared off as soon as possible because I need to apply for a student loan and I'm afraid they are going to deny me because of these negatives on the report.

I read that I should send a letter to the Big 3 but what should I write in these letters and will the Big 3 actually listen to me?

Thank you for any advice you can give me. I'm really desperate and frustrated :(

I doubt that two paid collection accounts on your credit report will prevent you from getting a student loan (assuming they even check credit history) and I also doubt they are having that much of an impact on your FICO score (unless there are negatives on your report).

In any case, I suggest you read the stick threads about the 1-2 punch as it will go a long way in laying out the process.

I would suggest that finding legitimate things wrong/incorrect about the tradeline that you can substantiate are incorrect will be your best chance of getting the tradelines removed from your reports.

You got a little ahead of yourself. You could have offered to pay for deletion.

You can try writing a good will letter to the account owners asking them to remove.

or

You could dispute the accounts with the big3

Did they update the accounts showing it was paid?

there are plenty of sample letters here at creditinfocenter.

I'm sure you can find some reason to dispute the accouonts.

They do run credit checks because I got denied once before when I had the unpaid collections.

I am going to write a letter to the companies and see what they say and then I will apply again. I really hope the student loan companies don't mark the paid accounts against me. I know that student loans are more selective about who they give money to these days...

They may be running your credit, but as Robert pointed out your two paid collection accounts are most likely not having that much of an impact on your credit worthiness at this point. Lenders would much rather see that a debt is paid off versus a debt that still remains in derogatory status.
