jemilad
My problem is I checked my credit recently and found a debt on it for some apartments that I stayed in, in 04/05. It is showing that I owe rent for 3 months in 2006, but my lease was up December 2005 and I moved when I told them I was moving. I sent a dispute letter to the credit bureau and they sent a letter back saying that the report was valid. I have proof from the electric company that I had my lights transferred in December 2005. What should I do. It is so hard to get something that is not supposed to be on your credit off, but it is so easy for them to put negative things on. swirlgirl
Contact your old landlord to find out what's going on. Did you do a final walk through? Were there any repairs needed on the apartment? Cleaning fees?
Ravenous Wolf
When it comes to an original creditor, many times you really need to deal with them first. All a credit bureau is going to do is ask the creditor if this is correct and guess what, the creditor is going to say yes. And when I mean "ask" I don't mean that a live human being is going to talk to another live human being. It doesn't work that way.So take the information you have and confront the apartment complex with it. You got good solid stuff so it would be easy for them to admit that they made a mistake, especially when they can review their own records.
