sandra1
Can a bank report a savings account that was overdrawn to chex systems? I was on disability, so my direct deposit to my savings stopped, and the same time I had a payday loan that was debited from my savings acct. The bank didnt pay them however they did charge me bank fees for the number of times that this payday loan kept trying to debit from my savings acct. The bank eventually closed out my acct and sent me a letter stating that if I didnt pay all of the fees $156.00 I would be reported to chex systems. Needless to say I didnt pay. swirlgirl
Yes, they can report it. But you can get a free copy of your reprt and dispute it like any CRA. https://www.consumerdebit.com/consumerinfo/us/en/index.htm
jq26
That's exactly what ChexSystems was created for. They can/may also turn over the $156 debt to a collection agency because your account was closed in the negative.
