Hothead
Good Morning,Question? I have a collection that was paid back in April 2008 to Midland (MCM). It is showing "paid collection" in the comment section, balance $0, but the problem is that Current Status is showing Collection Account. What should I do?Should I dispute it online with the CRA, because they are reporting incorrect information or....?Need help! Thanks to everyone who responds!
swirlgirl
Yes, dispute it. Whether online or via letter is up to you.
DebtAlarm
I had the same question? I have a debt with them that they are trying to settle and saying it will show as 'paid in full'. But how does that help me as long as they are in my report as CA. Is there a possibility they will delete? Has anyone has any experience with them? swirlgirl
DebtALarm, your situation is different. The other poster had already paid the debt. I don't know what he noegotiated. But the CRAs should at least show the correct status. What you are asking is more about PFD. This is where you negotiate a delete in exchange for payment. You are correct that having it updated to "paid" will not help you much.
retmar
Midland is a JDB who sometimes does not respond to disputes and the TL is deleted. But, don't get your hopes up until you see it on the response from the CRA.

Ravenous Wolf
What you are asking is more about PFD. This is where you negotiate a delete in exchange for payment. You are correct that having it updated to "paid" will not help you much.A "paid" collection does help out a lot but it is nowhere near as good as getting it deleted. A deletion is a "perfect" result. But the big "help" is that anything "unpaid" is not only a score killer but a deal killer for most prime (and especially super prime) outfits. So it is still a big improvement on a credit situation for it to be "paid" instead of being outstanding. It is just not a "perfect" outcome.
