LRM216
I have a Verizon bill that is on my credit reports as a charge off dating back about 4 yrs. ago. Long story as to how it got there, but not going to go into it, as it really no longer matters since it's already been put on all three reports. Question I have is this: Since I have no paper work on the original contract (which must date back at least 5 to 6 years ago) - what date do I use for calculating when the 7 yrs. begins to run and the date when it falls off the credit reports, since I do not have an original date of first default? swirlgirl
Either you remember, you contact the OC to get a copy of your account history, or you contact the CRAs for the date of first deliquency (DOFD).

Ravenous Wolf
Is this outstanding unpaid charge off for a small amount of money (like a couple of hundred clams)? The reason I ask is that an unpaid charge off is still a deal killer for many prime credit outifts. As a result, it is just better to pay it off so you can begin rebuilding your credit right now with more prime outfits instead of waiting until it falls off of your credit report. If it is a huge amount, then maybe it is better to let it ride until it falls off.
