gapinky
sorry for another question, on my report i have the oc and two collections for the same account, i know the ca can sell and new ca can also report but the second ca i have no idea who they are didnt know untill i pulled my report how should i go about fighting this, i have never recieved a bill or anything from the second ca. we are now to the point where i can make arrangements to pfd (one collection a month) but i would like to have the second ca removed before taking any action, is that possible seems i never recieved anything from them. Why are you talking PFD if you've never heard of this account and don't know what the CA is collecting for? Personally, I would DV the CA, indicating that you saw their TL on a routine review of your credit reports; that you don't know who they are or what they are collecting for; that you have not received the initial letter they are required by law to send you prior to placing negative information on your credit reports; and that you are requesting information pursuant to your rights under the FDCPA. LeslieR
This is absolutely all the more reason to request validation. You don't know who is legally authorized (by virtue of assignment or ownership) to collect this debt. You negotiate a settlement or PFD with the wrong CA, and you've still got the other one coming after you.
