JustaTexan
Don't you hate it when you're working your a$$ off all fricking day and you walk by your coworkers cubicle and he's playing f'in video games???? Especially when he smells like a mixture of smoke, trash, and b.o.? Yeah, seriously. I didn't even have time to visit with my favorite people today-my CIC'ers! Argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!And I know I know.... I should just give some of my files to my lazy coworker right? Not so much. He'll do a crappy job and all the guys will bring the corrections back to me to correct. So I would just actually prefer to do them all my dang self. He needs to be fired and somebody else needs to be hired that can actuall help me out, instead of just sitting on his a$$ allday playing warcraft, smelling like some kind of wild Marlboro smoking beast that stares at my tatas! And they are not just "out there" guys. I dress pretty conservative for a 25 year old. He's like unfireable or something.
willingtocope
Not sure what business you're in, but when I had a co-worker (computer consultant) that always pushed her work off on me, I found her another job with a competitor. We were all on assignment at the same company...3 or 4 different consulting groups...so every time I went out to lunch with some of the others, I talk her up...what a great job she was doing...such a hard worker...hate to have her leave....etc. The word got back to their bosses, and they hired her away. I draw up pipelines, tanks, vessels, etc. We have API guys who go out and draw up these things on graphing paper and they bring them to "us" (ME), and I draw them up in AutoCAD. The thing is that nobody wants to work with him. They would all prefer that I do their work, which sucks for me, because I am stuck doing a 2 person workload. I should be getting his paycheck. They won't fire him for some ungodly reason that I have not figured out yet. Thanks for the suggestion but trust me-he's not somebody who the competition would just be dying to steal away. Not a real "steal."
willingtocope
Is he the boss's son or something? If not, you might try passing his name on to some recruiters in your area....let him find a "better" job on his own.

If not, you might try passing his name on to some recruiters in your area....let him find a "better" job on his own.Not the boss's son, thank God! Just some lazy stinky bum. I think they are concerned about him filing for unemployment. I don't know enough about business, but I hear that a person has to be written up 3 times to not qualify for it when they are fired. Like the company has to show that they tried to remedy the "problem" or whatever. He's been written up twice. I think he knows his days are numbered, so he does crappy work and plays games all dang day. It's not like he's going to quit when he can get away with crap like that all day. Robert Nashville/Savannah
Personally, I’m tired of all the belly-aching the 25 year olds like you are doing.Don’t you know that one of the few benefits of getting old, apart from not having died of course, is being able to goof off most of the workday while all the young up-and-comers do the work so that they can make an impression and be CEO by the time they are 35??? Okay this dude is my age or younger! I work with 3 other guys and we each kind of have our own "areas." This dude is supposed to help out with what I do, but he doesn't. He really just messes things up and slows production of our reports. And I'm not terribly worried about making an impression. Just working here until I can figure out what I want to do with my life and what my major should be. Love my job, it's not too difficult as long as I have a 1 person work load, and plus I have lots of flexibility in the schedule that I work. Are you one of those old farts making the babies like me work twice as hard??

Not me...I'm still quite young; or so I tell myself every morning.Besides, I don't have to do any work...my mere presence at work is what keeps my company going. JustaTexan
What...your boss is your Daddy??? :)Yes Robert..... I work for a family owned company. Grandfather owns and father is Co-VP. Both of my brothers work here as well. Don't think that makes my job a walk in the park as it is quite the opposite. It's nice because nobody really messed with me too badly. My father is harder on my brothers and I more than he is anybody. He expects more from me especially for some ungodly reason. He makes sure nobody can ever accuse him of playing favorites, that's for sure.

My father is very blunt about the fact that we get no special treatment. My grandfather made him work his way up and was extremely hard on him-giving him all the "crappy" jobs. My father does the same to us and it sucks but I admire it at the same time. While I don't want to own the company one day, (I'll leave that to bro), I do want to to instill that kind of work ethic into my own children. And you know what they say about a$$uming!
