Cabela's Visa Info

Cynic, you might give them a call (800 552-7963). I got the '7-10 day' message and then didn't hear anything. I gave them a call and the man said "you didn't hear yet? It's in the mail, 2k limit'. I asked about first purchase profiling, and he said they really like seeing the first purchase from them, after that you can Walmart or Sears to your hearts content. Just stay away from 'Uncle Billy's Online Porn and Bait Shop'.

Day 12, Nada... though I did get a new cap 1 no hassle card from applying at the creditkarma site. It's going right back if they don't please me on the next call. I have a 2k card with them, perfect history, 5% util, 100+ point fico increase since last card, and this one is $500 CL.

Bridad, I only go to 'Uncle Billy's Online Porn and Bait Shop' for the bait, jailbait that is

Do Cabela's consider CLI upon activation? Anyone?

Some of you guys got CL over the phone? I didn't. Maybe I'll try again.

So Cap1 couldn't do anything for the new card, but did up my first one another $500 and took 2 points off the APR. Said I'd lose my history if I rolled into the new one.

Well I just updated my TC and found that WFB ran my EQ and then I must have been passed off to WASH MUTUAL/PROVIDIAN because they ran my EX. I'm guessing I was denied because I had a previous PROVIDIAN card that was charged off some time ago (like 8 years). All well, it was worth a try.

There are mixed opinions about a providian blacklist, which suggests they don't really have one. Plus, WAMU is gone so you would have a Chase card now, so really their policy will count as well.

Why don't you just call and find out? I found out the next day...

Called and was denied by WFB. Said they passed it on and gave me a number to call (800-717-0685) I had to press # a few time until it asks for my SSN and then has an automated system to check the status. Says they are taking between 3-4 week to process and if it has been more then 4 week, I could speak with someone. All well I guess I'll just wait for a while and see what happens.

Don't bet on that. I had a talk with a Wamu supervisor who flat out told me I would never get a Wamu card, even if my scores were 800 because I burned providian back in 2001.

I am truly hoping that Chase plays ball....and I even hope Chase fired that POS.

yeah well I've had preliminary supervisors swear I'd never get an AF waived too lol...

Anyway, here's the thread I was refering to about the blacklist.... seems to be individualized experiences..

so, maybe some hope

I also got the 7-10 day (and so did the hub) a few days ago; just now I could wait no longer so I called up to check status and they said they forwarded mine on to WaMu. They gave me the number but I did not call WaMu.

I got the feeling "World's Foremost Bank" (how did they come up with that one?), which is part of the Cabela's company, is run by one guy named Joe. It sounded like Joe Sixpack who answered the phone after about 1/2 a ring.

I haven't seen anyone say they got instant... I got 7-10 as well. Don't despair.

If I get approved I will scream!!! I have been rejected so much I don't get my hopes up anymore LOL But Hopefully you are right, It would be nice to have a real card for a change, with a decent CL..We will see..I will definatly post my results here when I get the word.:)

It's part of their name. ;) Cabela's® World's Foremost Outfitters® I've been shopping there for years since my uncle took me to their store in South Dakato in 2002. Yes, I'm an outdoors freak and they probably get about 25% of my annual income. Well, them and Honda and Yamaha.

Cabela's actually went through a lot of hell trying to meet FDIC and Federal regulations to open their own bank to offer their own (single brand i.e. WFB's Cabela's Visa) cards, then partnered with Wamu to offer a second tier card (dual brand i.e. Wamu's Cabela's Visa).

Some of their stuff is over priced, most of their stuff though is priced according to quality of the product. The term "You get what you pay for" really applies here. I shop the "Bargain Cave" mainly. LOTS of goodies on the cheap in there. Everything from socks and underwear to shotguns and trolling motors in the Bargain Cave. I picked up 15 pairs of Carhart work pants in the Bargain Cave at $5/pair. It's very nice for me since I have a Cabela's a little less than an hour away and their in store Bargain Cave is always much better than their online Bargain Cave.

For those of you that have a Cabela's Visa (either brand), be sure to sign up for the Cabela's Club Rewards card. Double your rewards in store and online. ;)

I applied online and recieved the 7-10 day message also several months ago. Didn't receive anything for nearly 2 weeks when I got my card. I have the WFB Cabela's Visa card at $3500. Initial CL of $2500, bumped up at 3 months to $3000 (automatic, soft pull), then and additional $500 at 5 months upon request (hard pull) to purchase a very VERY nice antique Ruger. I guess it helps that I spend about $1000 a month in their store and make multiple payments and PIF every month. I only use it at Cabela's too, if that makes a diffrence.

I've noticed through conversations with others, that they don't seem to care for people carrying balances too long. According to my uncle, they cut his CL from $5000 to $2800, $200 above balance, when he carried a balance for 3 months and continued to use the card. Since then, he's PIF but still has the $2800 CL with flawless credit.

Hope the info helps.

Ahhh that sucks... another great card, so long as you don't need it!

It's part of their name. Cabela's® World's Foremost Outfitters®

OK, that makes sense. I thought they were trying to imply that they're the biggest, most reputable bank in the world. I was thinking, "uh-uh, I bet not."

:lol::lol::lol:

Kind of like "First Choice Chinese Food" or "World's Best Pizza." ;)

I'll take them at their word that they're the "foremost" outdoor store.
