I have read th threads most of the Afternoon. I Tried The EQ method for 2.

Is this a good letter..

Dear CRA,

I have recently reviewed my CR and found several attempts to gain credit in my name . Since I personally know that I wouldn't qualify for a loan, I suspect my ID may have been compromised. Please remove the following inq**** that I didn't authorize.

Respectfully

John B goode

I'm not sure if trying to remove inquiries is a good idea or even worth it, based on some of the experiences some people have been having. If you have anything else that is not good, then you may want to get those taken care of instead as inquiries do no really affect your credit score.

I have had no luck in disputing anything at this point and that even includes deleting old addresses (even though I have lived at the same address since 2001).

However, the CRA's did place a FA on the accounts. The following statement may initiate one for you as well.........

I suspect my ID may have been compromised.

I don't care if they want to place a FA on my report - it's only for 90 days.

What initiated the FA in my case was asking them to update my address. I began my letter as follows:

Identity theft is very prevalent in today’s society, and I am taking precautionary steps to avoid a possible credit card promotion being sent to an incorrect address.

Please correct your records to show my correct address and remove all other addresses.

Just sharing what happened in my case.

The EQ dispute may work, but that letter to the other two is probably going to be answered with their standard reply, which is to call the companies that made the inquiries to have them recall them. The CRA's only report info they recieve. All of their obligations for investigation lie with actual trade lines.

I think that would be A violation since the CRA have to investigate ALL inacurate information .... Correct

If you truly believe that someone is trying to obtain credit in your name, go file ID Theft paperwork. However, if you're using the "someone is trying to obtain credit in my name" route as a method of removing IQ's, be prepared for the CRA's to ask you for all of that ID Theft Paperwork AND a copy of a filed police report.
