Sounds like it disabled Norton. I was going to recommend Eset's online virus scan. http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/index.php

You should also try running Spybot along with another anti spyware program if you haven't already. Then you can use CCleaner to clean the registry. Also, you should defrag your hard drive if you haven't done so in a while. Then you may want to do a backup.
