CleverCynic
I've been on a full-on app spree lately and now I have a burning question. Sometimes they ask some security questions during the process, and I've never really thought about it because they just pulled my reports. So they ask "what kind of car did you finance in 2002" or "what year was that car"...HEY WAIT! None of that info is on any CRA report I'VE ever seen! So where's it coming from????

willingtocope
First, "positive" credit information is available via your credit reports for a long, long time. There is no federal law regarding that. So, if your car loan was successfully completed, its there.Second, there are many, many federal, state, and local databases on line these days that have divorce info, motor operator info, etc. Lots of credit grantors have gloomed onto this stuff.Do the google on your name...see if it pops up. sdott313
some weird stuff happened to me the other day also i went into Macy's to buy something for a party and when i was checking out i was paying with my Macy's card, and the lady said that someone was on the phone for me and needed to verify some info. i said okay and he asked me did i know someone named Leopold, i said yes and he asked me in what month is his birthday and i remebered it was May because its the same month as my mothers. he then said i was verified and they increased my limit to $600 but i found it funny because i do not know how they connected me to leopold because i have basically no connection to him but i do know who he is. CleverCynic
These are just self-crawling, info assembling relational databases that corporations have access to. Imagine what the FBI has to work with! Man, can't get away with nuttin' these days.
