Do CU's have a blacklist like Chexsystems for BK losses?

Filed BK CH 7 last month. 341 in a couple of weeks. I have a 2nd mtg, car loan and cc w/ CU. Affirming the car loan (5% rate, no cross-collateralization, 18 months left till car pd in full). They are closing my account when I sign the reaff. I am surrendering the house so the CU is losing on the 2nd and the cc.:(

So once I am discharged from the BK, would I be able to open an acct (checking, savings,) at another CU in the future? Do they have a list of people that caused losses with other CU's? Does anyone know about this kind of thing?

While I don't know if CUs have a cheksystems type of system, I can tell you that I created losses to one CU, then after discharge opened up savings accounts and even secured loans at other local CUs within 12 months of discharge.

I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

The only way they will know is either by running your credit report or if they are hosting their account database at a larger credit union.

Because CUs are not for profit, they tend to have very small IT departments and even smaller IT budgets. Many smaller CUs don't even have their own data center and instead host their database and applications at a larger CU. If this is the case, they may have some crossover checks with other hosted CUs at the same master data center.

I hope you pulled your savings and cancelled any direct deposit before you filed BK so the CU can't grab your account balances through cross-collateralization.
