Anyone else offered more credit than what you applied for?

Recommended Posts

I came across a strange situation considering the credit crunch that is going on.

I applied for a Citi Platinum Select card last night and was approved for $4k. Then I check my email today and there is an email from Citi asking me to call them regarding my Platinum Select application. I immediately thought, uh oh, they are recinding the offer.

So I called and they are trying to give me another card, IN ADDITION to the platinum, it's some type of Professional card. Didn't find out what the limit was, but your balance transfers were at current APRs and not the 0% that I am getting for 12 months with the platinum. I turned it down, something just told me to say no.

Just wondering how many others are being offered credit considering alot of people are getting CLDs instead of CLI's.

I have to say I love these boards and have learned alot in the month or so that I have been lurking.

The CLD's seem to be affecting the people with crazy credit lines, 20k-50k. The banks can significantly reduce their exposure with them.

I've only gone upward this year, but we'll see what happens if I actually use them or finance any amount, which I'm probably going to have to for the remainder of the year.

The sad thing is that I have contacted several of my creditors to get clis, BP gave me a whole $150 cli and I was turned down for WAMU, supposedly they don't do cli requests from customers. Now I have Citi throwing 2 different credit cards at me. There is no rhyme or reason to it. I have to say though that my utilization is high, that is why I have been asking for increases. Something that I learned from CIC. This 4k should help a bit.
