When are you gonna....

Recommended Posts

Normally, I do it the weekend after Thanksgiving. But this year, what with a multitude of personal things I have had going on, I am in no mood. And this is sad because I LOVE Christmas. But I will also be out of town for the entire holiday for two weeks, so there's not much point to my doing much. I will probably put a wreath on the door around Dec. 1. :(

(No, I'm really not a scrooge at all...it's just been a very bad fall season).

I'm trying to fight the urge to get depressed myself and fighting the idea to NOT put anything out for Christmas, even for the kids. The anniversary of my mom's death last year is coming up in a little over a week and she broke the news to me herself that she had a week to live on my Bday which is also this weekend. Last time I put up a tree was just before Thanksgiving last year so she could see the tree we all put together for her one last time. After all that, it's real difficult to rebound to a normal holiday. :(

I hear you and I'm sorry about your mom isislc. My grandmother passed this year and usually I would go to her house and help her put up her giant tree. She was pretty much my mom growing up so I can kind of understand. I'll bet this is a really hard time for you. :(

I can come sing to you too if ya want! :)++

This is going to be the first year that DH and I have room for a real tree. AND we're moving into a new house Thanksgiving weekend. First thing that gets unpacked? Christmas decorations

We'll hopefully get the tree as well. Moving as we speak, just can't 'move in' until Thanksgiving weekend.

I'm all excited. I absolutely love Christmas, and can't wait to decorate the outside as well.

I'm working on the shop now, we have the official tree lighting ceremony day after Thanksgiving...I usually spend all day Friday doing the shop and don't let the public see until the tree lighting...

Home is usually done around the 1st of december...

Sometimes thanksgiving night, depends on who's at the house...8-)

dw has been frantically whipping together new xmas decorations ever since she took down the "spook house" from the front porch nov 1. (groan)

it's not that i mind xmas...she always rooks me into the projects that can be quite elaborate.

this year? life sized raggedy ann type angels suspended over the front flower bed gathering the large xmas balls growing on stems .

and guess who's got to build the angels' frames with articulating arms and legs? moi.

bah humbug.

Oh my my my! You sound like one of my neighbors that always has the HUGE blow up santa and reindeer in his front yard. These things are so big that you can't even really see the house and he has them tied down with strings......:lol: It looks like they're flying or just kind of hovering over the grass....kinda creepy if you ask me!

That's because with cats they are your owner. You're their pet. You're supposed to be minding them!:lol:

One of the hates me (trix) and one of them won't give me any peace (pod). I specifically told my wife she could only get one. So when she came home with two she said one of them was mine. I thought she had given it a stupid name (peas) so I changed it to trix.

All I did was sneak up from behind and scared the crap out of her, now she still stays away from me.

In the Miracle's Book of Laws:

"No Christmas decoration shall be displayed prior to Black Friday and no later than December 26th. All Radio stations that play Christmas music are also banned in the presence of Miracle with the exception of the same days..." :)o

SWMBO likes to get the tree the weekend after Thanksgiving.

I'm actually really starting to identify with The Grinch.

Goodness I'm going to have to come sing to everybody this fricking year!

Its not that I dislike Christmas or am being a ba-humbug... I just think that Thanksgiving gets cheated.. and I like to FULLY enjoy my Christmas :)

You know what? Turkey Day does get cheated! I just realized that in all my preparation for Christmas I haven't given a thought to my plans for Turkey Day..... or the turkey for that matter!

I usually put up the tree after Thanksgiving. But, being the weird family that we are, for the past three years we have celebrated Christmas the on New Years Eve, or along those lines. We go christmas shopping AFTER christmas. Wow! Get the kids aoubt $600 worth of stuff for only $100! Not to mention all the visiting we have to do on christmas day, it really works out. People think we're weird for leaving our christmas stuff up for the week after 'our' Christmas... but we don't mind. We like being weird, different, going against the norm..... lol
