talves
In 2007 I was hospitalized many times. Insurance paid it's share, however I still have numerous medical bills. They have all gone to collections. The hospitals forgave my debt, but everybody else wants their money. Now I have received my 1st summons. I made 1/2 my income in 2007, but now am back to work full-time. I cannot pay back all of these people at one time. What are my chances in court? Should I try to negotiate with the original creditors on all the other bills?
swirlgirl
Who is suing you and for what? You said the hospitals have forgiven the debt.
talves
The Dr's. that work at the hospital are not paid by the hospital. They have there own billing system. As do the ambulance companies, anesthesiologists, etc. Plus, There were many separate hospital stays. The summons I received is from the one critical care specialist, but there are 6 separate accounts, totaling $2800.00, plus $400 interest, plus $1100 attorney fees.
