M&M
My hubby just heard on the news a new way ID theft can occur. When you go to a hotel and use your credit or debit card they swipe the card in the machine. They then swipe your key card which puts all of your info on the keycard. After you check out they can use the key card just like a credit card in stores. This is really bad since to get a hotel room you have to show a major CC. swirlgirl
I saw a report on TV about this. They said that to prevent ID Theft, don't turn in your swipe card room key. Most hotels offer some sort of express checkout or something where you can use a kiosk or just sign a statement and leave it in your room. In any case, just don't give the swipe card back. red1gtrubodsm
I never would have even thought about that as a posibility of ID theft.
M&M
I just wish the people who are smart enough to come up with these ideas would use their brains in trying to find the cure for cancer or one of the many other diseases that we have in the world. jasen
http://www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/hotelkey.aspThese room key cards cannot be used as a credit card in a credit card swiper. They don't have the same magnetic strips. At least none that I've ever seen. Slightly different technology than a credit card.
