Financial Goals for 2009

Recommended Posts

Ok whats your financial outlook for 2009. Heres my plan.

I am now saving in a 501K from work, they match some of my contributions.

I need to get more financially stable in the shop. We are planning on some repairs to the building. We would like to add a video game arcade. We want to have pinball and older games like pac-man.

The shops sales increased very nicely in 2008. I started my 4th year in business in November. The shop added movie and game rentals. They are coming along well.

We are also planning on opening another store in the building...we are looking at baby/consignment. This will be a business my daughter wants to run.

I will not be involved with this.

I would like to get some repairs done at the house as well.

I would like to build an emergency fund.

I plan on closing at least 2 cards. I am about 1 1/2 years in repair and have done well. I want to reduce the number of accounts to keep track on and I should lose most of my inquiries in 2009.

I want to reduce my liability to debt.

Whats yout plan?

I would like to build an emergency fund.

That has always been such a huge goal for me but living paycheck to paycheck greatly reduces that possibility.

Instead, I have been reducing expenses and debt. It has always been hard to trim both of them but I have slowly been reducing them. I have paid off one bank loan this year and the loan for my funiture only has one payment left in January. Now I just need to find a way to keeping lowering my cost so I can aim for an emergency fund...

Good plan everyone.

2009 goals:

- max my 401k in 2009 (it increased to 16.5k in '09).

- save $25k for a new home (wife and I have 7.5k now for house).

- increase contributions to son's 529 from $100/month to $200/month while the market still stinks- he's only 7 months old so we still have time!

- pass the bar exam in July '09 so I can (hopefully) boost my income this fall.

1. Pay off 2 auto loans this year

2. Be able to get a 401 k plan ( my employer has one but i need to work 1200 hours in 2008 so i have to see how many hours i worked I'm a school bus driver so i have roughly 13 weeks off each year)

3. Build an emergency fund

4. Get a full time job if possible

5. Get things done to the house ( new windows to save energy, stuff like that)

1. Find a new job in the same town - since I am slated to lose my current job at EOM Jan.

2. Survive without going past due if I don't get a job! I will have 1100/mo in unemployment and my student loans and my kids student loans...

3. If I do get a job....

a. pay off all cc's.

b. keep $ in savings - build emergency fund

c. my mini-van will be paid off in Dec....one less large payment!

d. start a 401K or some kind of retirement acct.

1) Pay off last CC. It was a balance that we kept transferring while we were paying down a large amount of debt. Now that the big part of our debt is gone we can tackle this last cc.

2) Pay off personal loan.

3) Pay off student loans.

4) Save.

5) Eventually settle with GMAC.

If I can do at least half of this in 2009, I'll be very happy.

1. Tithe 10% to what/whomever is providing me with insight, inspiration, or spiritual fullfillment.

2. Save 10% - I don't have a 401k option, but perhaps an IRA. I'd also like to begin investing.

3. We have very little debt after our bankruptcy earlier in 2008, but what little there is I would like to eliminate, this includes carrying no or very little balance on my 1 new credit card.

4. "Pays as agreed" on student loans and car payment. Stay current on all the household bills. Credit score up - yes. Down - no.

5. Begin my business as a Premiere Designs Jeweler so I can earn extra $ doing something I enjoy. xdancex

6. Whatever it takes to thrive - it's not about my resources but about my resourcefulness.

2. Pay more attention to where my money goes.

THAT is an excellent goal! I've been thinking about little things like that...like perhaps getting rid of part of my cable options...could save $15/month or $180/year.

I've just never been able to put it all into one sentence

I think I might just sit down tonight, and plan out where we can save money instead of just 'throwing' it away.

And definitely going to start planning out monthly budgets for necessities.

I've had a lot of time to think today...been upgrading customers to XP Professional...gotta love formating drives

Wow let's see....

Get my mortgage up to date and refinanced by another company.

Fix mine and my husband's credit

Get a new car

Pay off all credit cards and only use them for emergencies

Save more money and not touch it.

Oh and finally get my secured mastercard from my credit union that should help our credit out...

Paying attention to where the money goes and increasing amount going to savings are the two that I've already started.

Personal goals: Loose 12 more pounds and learn Spanish. Basically these are the two same goals I've had for the last 3 years. But I will tackle both of these in 2009!

You can do it easier than you think.....Lower expenses is a great start...saving a dime everytime you can...make it a game and then a lifestyle. If theres one thing I have learned from having no credit, is now much I can really live without.

I will be praying for you.

Hopefully if I can get my credit repaired soon and get my USAA loan.

Once I take care of this summer, rent/bills/expenses. Get a car and stuff, I plan to put most of it into a CD or invest it so that way when I get out of the Army, I'll have something to look at.

Thats an excellent plan too. you just don't know how fast things in life change and you will be glad you saved some money.

Good luck my friend:rolleyes:

It's very easy to live below your means....Just don't spend.

A plan is very important, what makes it easy for me is quicken software, I can download all my banking and CC info into one program...it helps track where I spend.

BUT this bugs me....upgrading customers to XP Professional???

Who is upgrading to pro from what??? Please say VISTA...
