aloha
so... we had an island-wide blackout last night that occurred while i was on the computer. wham... suddenly shut down. i unplugged everything so as not to get a surge through it when the power came back on. so... this morning i go to power everthing back up, and the monitor and printer came on, but not the computer. try and try again, nothing. i've had this computer since 2000, so i figured the surge at the blackout must have fried it. oh, well.... i had thought about buying a laptop, so might as well go for it!drove to sam's club and joined (i was previously a member but hadn't renewed for over 6 years) so i could buy a laptop. when i last was a member, they only took cash, check or discover cc. so, before i joined, i asked if they take visa (i have 2 visas). nope, only master charge or disscover. i could have written a check, but... then she said, why not put your laptop on a sam's club card? if you charge any one item worth over $499 and pay it off within 12 months, there's no interest. hmmmmmmm... that sounded good, so i said, sure, what the heck. so she ran the credit check and said, you've been approved for $1200 CL... and you can use the card at wal-mart. so my questions... i thought i have seen posts on here that talked about sam's club card and wal-mart card as separate cards? (i rarely shop at wal-mart, so wouldn't have applied for it separately). is it (are they) good card(s) to have? is the $1200 credit limit on the low, medium or high side??PS- when i got back from sam's club, laptop in tow, i thought, you know, i'll just plug everything back in again and see if the desktop computer is fried fer sure... and it came on! LOL! i didn't really *need* to buy the laptop today!
matthewscott
Wow. That sounds like a win-win situation. Walmart (and I guess Sam's as well) has good no-interest plans. I've used my card twice and that was to get a no interest deal. Also, they may tell you that you can only apply the no interest on a new account. That isn't true, tell them to scan the coupon and see what happens. Congrats on the laptop and the new CC. I'm glad the desktop came on as well. You may want to try to save all of the data off of it. Aerovette
If you have both cards they both report.ONE card usable at both stores is my understanding. Same as I have. It is reported by Sam's to the CRAs but can be used at Wal-Mart.

debtmamma
I have a WalMart Store card and Sams Discover, the WM can be used at Sams.Just a warning the card is a PITA, if you use it more than 3x in 24 hours they freeze it, so don't stop at WM to make a purchase, buy gas at WM, buy lunch at Sam's Deli, and then try to make a purchase at Sam's because you will be stuck in line with your tired children and melting food while on the phone with a GEMB rep in Manilla asking them to unlock your account!
