djmacc
I am heading toward 90 days late on my mortgage (Citi Mortgage) and I received a notice from RLF to contact them about mortgage assistance. morrow
Absolutley call Citi first to see if they could some how modify your loan. They would much rather work something out as opposed to losing money in a foreclosure. However, if you are looking into doing a loan modification through a third party company, I would first contact a local real estate attorney to find out what they charge to do this. I would feel alot more comfortable paying $2000 to an attorney to represent me, than a loan modification company. They have been popping up more and more lately, especially with the number of foreclosures going on.Just a thought.

amortgageman
Just a coincidence, but I have been working with someone who just got their summons for foreclosure and popped in to get a debt validation letter to stall the foreclosure proceedings. This person is dealing with RLW in Indiana. Seems they are the former Ameriquest attornies by choice. Too darn close for me.Anyway, during my search, I discovered www.loansafe.org/forum/citi-mortgage-citi-financial-homeowner-help-center
MichaelGa1792
We got our notice from RLF and I threw it in our junk drawer and thought nothing of it. Long story short my wife and I were 4 months behind and after getting nowhere with Countrywide our own and after they told us "there is nothing we can do for you at this time"; we were coming to grips with leaving my wifes childhood home and having to move in with my in-laws until we got back on our feet. My wife was cleaning out the junk drawer and came across the RLF notice and she told me to call since the deadline was coming up. I spoke with a gentleman named Doug at ext.222; not only did they stop the foreclosure but we start making our new payments on the modification the got us. The name of their firm is Raymond Louis & Fitch and they have a website: www.raymondlouisfitch.com (My wife made me do our homework before moving forward and they not only get our approval but they have a great record with the BBB) http://www.jacksonville.bbb.org/commonreport.html?compid=153330239**I hope this helps anyone who may get a notice like ours**
IneedHelp!!
Hey peeps!! I got a lttr from RLF HOUSING COUNSLING COMMUNITY and looked them up, raymond, louis & fitch. I came across this thread awhile ago and decided to check them out. Here are my results. 1.) Very nice people, I spoke with Donna ext214 was very knowledged 2.) I checked the BBB, they have a "B" rating which is very good per BBB standards. here was my situation, 3 mths behind and owed 7300 in pmnts and fees all this from from losing work as an electrical contractor, I'm with citimortgage and had a 7.25 rate fixed. I now have a 3.25 for 1yr, a 4.5 for 2nd year and it caps out at 5.35 in year 3 till the end of my loan in 2033. My pmnt went from 1752 p/mth to 1063 p/mth till 2/2010 and will be 1254 p/mth from 2/2010 till 2/2011..........and for the record, i did call citimortgage first, they did not do crap for me, they wanted a repayment plan which was goign to bring my pmnt up by 350 p/mth for 1 year.... so to those advising to deal with my lender first, beaware that this will wasting crucial time for distressed borrowers. As for using a real esate agent or an attorney... you must be nutz!!! the real estate agent and the attorney i hired for closing on my loan, got me into an adjustable rate mortgage in the first place saying it was the best option out there and it would save me tons of money, hell i had no reason to question the DYNAMIC DUO, yet I had to refi into citimortgage for the fixed rate, like I will trust those A-Holez again.. USE RLF THEY ARE REAL AND WILL HELP YOU. they did charge me a $1500 fee, yet I saved my home, I saved 125k in interest pmnts over the life of the loan and I'm now current again in a pmnt I can afford. I would say it was worth it. IF you don't beleive me, its your home not mine.
OMGWhatHaveIdone
to those advising to deal with my lender first, thanks for wasting my time. as for a using a real esate agent or an attorney... you must be nutz!!! Okay, first of all, I'm glad that you were able to find someone to help you out. Second of all - do not hold blame to volunteers on a message board for your own mistakes. Sure, advice was given, but no one twisted your arm or held a gun to your head forcing you to follow any of the advice. Try to remember that the next time you ask for help from people on a message board, who quite frankly, don't have to be here and who supply their advice free of charge. Many people (including myself) have found the people on these boards especially helpful. Sometimes I take advice, sometimes I don't. But I don't ever take anything anyone else says here as Word, unless I do my own research on what was said, first. Even then, should I choose to take their advice, I do so with the understanding that they are not to be blamed for any mistakes that happen as a result. IneedHelp!!
FIRST OFF!!! I did not come on here to start an argument. I was defending borrowers who are unaware that the lending institutions DO NOT inform borrowers as to all available options. Many of my friends, whom work in the construction field, are feeling the crunch and have stated that had it not been for companies like RLF, they would have been locked into an agreement with their lender or even lost their homes and this is not small local banks it is BOA, Countrywide, Litton and Wells Fargo. This is apparently true from the drastic differences in what I was able to obtain on my own and what a professional was able to do, who by the way deals specifically in these matters. This was a statement blanketing the comments of "deal with the lender first" and "rather pay an attorney $2000 or seek a real estate agent before using a service" If volunteers as you so put it come on here to provide the free advice, they need not condemn businesses that do help people. And please allow me to retort on your prior statements, I did do my homework and I know I was not forced into any action, it is unfortunate people get ripped off in all aspects from pop up companies, attorneys and real estate agents as well. Borrowers need to know just because someone is "In the Field" does not mean they have good intentions. Thank you for reading and I wish all the best of luck. Yep... definitely a sales pitch.
verysuspicious
If you need 10 minutes of amusement, google "RLF housing counseling". IneedHelp!!
As I have already sent to OMG on a private note, I apology for my before mentioned outburst insulting individuals on this thread for their good intentions. I let my personal experience get in the way of the ultimate goal, offering a good solution to distressed home owners. As for the other stuff going here I have no clue what it is about, having two people post about a company with in hours does seem strange but if you google Raymond, Louis & fitch it comes up with this site and another. I have never posted on the other site in mention, it is a site about 800 numbers that call you, I never received a call from them I got a letter. They did help and it was expenseive but it was less then my lender in the long run. I do think it was a mistake for me to come here as it seems if something is good for the people, it will be discredited by non-believers, in turn this actually tarnished a good companies name. The bottom line is, anyone who needs help should do a background check, BBB is relieble, whether a company starts up and is 3 months young or 20 years old, but ask yourself, what company never had their 1st day of business. It is longevity for customer service that begins on day 1 and the ability to provide a quality service, Even if RLF was created in june of 2008, having no complaints in that time with the BBB stands to say something about them. If you do not believe me or choose to think I am providing multiple posts , so be it. But I am not. Thank you OMG for pointing out my lack of respect and Once again my apologies for those I have insulted. OMGWhatHaveIdone
Dwayne, It takes an awful lot to apologize publicly for mistakes that have been made. Personally, I accept your apology. Please do not think that you have to leave this forum because of what has happened. If RLF was able to assist you, then that is great. It's not often that someone can find success in dealing with a company that some would deem unreputable. It's a hard pill for some to swallow to think that any good could possibly come out of a business like that. That said, please understand that most of our CIC members who have gone through credit repair successfully, have had a very long, hard road to travel. Many are leery of places such as RLF because of the fact that they are profiting on others' financial woes. There are quite simply, too many scams out there. We tend to try and re-direct people away from such places if more suitable help can be found elsewhere. At CIC, as I have come to learn, the senior (not old) members of these forums have always encouraged new members to seek out all available options with an OC first, before ending up dealing with a CA or "for profit" entity. In many instances, if somone has fallen behind on payments and they aren't too far, then the best option would always be to keep the lines of communication open with the OC before the debtor gets in over their head. I really think that Seniors in high school should be made to take a manditory course in finances, credit and consumer law (basics), before being able to graduate. I'm quite sure it would save a lot of people from making future financial mistakes. Unfortunately many members find this site only AFTER learning that they could have prevented many of the things that they are now going through. Life is all about learning, as my signature line says. We're human and we're bound to make mistakes. I am constantly learning and educating myself, thanks to the good people on this forum. I would hope that you would stick around so that you too, can learn from the experiences of others here. While I realize that your issue was with your mortgage, it might be wise to remain a member here so that you can learn about other areas of credit and finances. You never know when you'll need to apply what you've learned here, to another area of your life. I wish you the very best of luck.
