RROJAS
Well I did receive a response from EQ and Trans. Both say I need to send proof that its me sending the Despute Forms. I have 2 Q's if someone would be so nice???- I sent separate letters with 2 accounts on each despute letter. TransUnion sent me like 5 separate packets in one envolope wanting (2) distinct forms of indentification. DO I HAVE TO SEND ALL OF THEM BACK OR JUST PICK ONE PACKET. They dont seem to have separate account numbers, all of them are identical. (EQ just sent me one letter requesting proof of identification)-Will this turn the 30 day clock back on. Or once I send them these forms back will they send me my responses? If anyone needs more celerity just let me know. Thanks a bunch!
OMGWhatHaveIdone
I know this probably won't help one lick, now that you've already received things back, but the first time I sent TU and EX letters requesting they remove and update my personal information, I sent along a copy of my drivers license along with a copy of one of my most recent utility bills. Thankfully, I had read articles and posts on these forums prior to mailing out the letters because no doubt I would probably be standing where you are now. I would say just send them the proof of ID they are requesting. I believe it does start the 30 day clock over, but someone else here would be better to answer that question. Other than that, I would suggest that since you are at the starting point of repairing your credit, that you really go through the stickies on these forums and read, read, read and then read some more. I've been here for around a month now and although I've read a lot, I still need to read a lot more.
RROJAS
Updating my address was brought to my attention after I had sent the form letters. I hope it doesnt reset the clock. If so I guess Ill go kick some rocks as I wait!
OMGWhatHaveIdone
I hear ya. It sucks. This is why I'm starting with my personal information and working my way through my report. The last things I will dispute are the inquiries. There are seven hard pulls on my TU report and they are will CA's that were not reporting anything until AFTER my BK Ch13 was filed. Now their lovely TL's show up. Thankfully, we're amending my BK plan and those nasty little buggers will be added to the amended plan. I still plan on sending out DV's to the CA's since they appear on my report. Hoping to catch someone in a violation or two, or three....
RROJAS
Thier called gangster violations! Darn those CA's!!! I hope all ends well.
Denita
RROJAS, you might want to get the e-book on this forum (first page) - Good Credit is Sexy along with the workbook. It is not required, but it does make the process a little easier by giving step by step instructions Then you come back here and post your specific questions (just like you did ).The CRA's send out the request for id regularly to add time to their required response time! They get an extra 15 days to respond to your complaint if you respond with the paperwork they have requested.BTW, I was here for many months reading and learning before I picked up the book - just trying to save you some time!! RROJAS
I felt like this would just be a back and forth situation. As I read on in this forum there are plenty of little things not to forget and not to due!! Thanks fro the response. I will send the requested info. and look into Good Credit is Sexy. zfire
Next time you have to deal with a CRA, just run your Id and stuff through the printer and use that paper for your stationary. Then they can't even say you need to send proof of Idenity. All on one page makes it where they can't say they didn't get it...And extra sheet of paper could be "accidently" misplaced on purpose. It's called beating them at their own game.
OMGWhatHaveIdone
Thier called gangster violations! Darn those CA's!!! I hope all ends well. Thanks! Like many here, I'll be posting my progress as I continue this journey. It's because of so many others reporting their progress, that I've been able to glean a ton of excellent advice. Not to mention all the laws and advice mentioned here from those who are constantly researching for us and answering endless questions. This truly is an awesome place to be. groundzero2010
unfortunately I'm reading this post a tad too late to include a copy of my DL in my letters to EX and TU. Bummer..I've noticed several people have sent one letter to each credit bureau disputing several different items in each letter. And I've also seen many people sending multiple letters to each credit bureau, each letter disputing one item.Which is better? Of course one letter saves you postage as opposed to several. OMGWhatHaveIdone
but the down side to that is that it gives the CRA an excuse to say "oops we must of missed that dispute in your lengthy letter to us."I guess it's up to each individual and what their success (or failure) has been with regards to sending one letter with all the disputes, or a separate letter for each. I'm spending the extra money on the CMRRR for each dispute I find. Of course, I'm finding stuff slowly as I have so many things to sift through, so as I come across something I think should be disputed, I research on here to see if I should dispute and how, THEN I proceed. RROJAS
Well, I chose to send about 7 despute letters with 2 accounts on each letter. I then only paid for one Certificate of mailing for each Credit Bureau. So if one of the Credit Bureaus tries something funny. I have proof of sending it to the correct address and proof of date I sent it.I know that credit repair takes TIME but Im hoping to increase my credit score within 5 months to purchase my first home!! nascar
In terms of verifying that you are the person you say you are in the dispute letter, nothing provides more definitive proof of identity than having the document notarized. May I ask, did you mail these 7 letters all at the same time? How do CRAs respond in that case?Just wondering whether I should be doing that instead of just one with several items. I was thinking it may not be good to send them a lot of letters either.
OMGWhatHaveIdone
Hi there! May I ask, did you mail these 7 letters all at the same time? How do CRAs respond in that case?Just wondering whether I should be doing that instead of just one with several items. I was thinking it may not be good to send them a lot of letters either.I was advised by one of our more seasoned residents here, that it's best to work on one or two issues at a time. So as a personal preference, I like to do just that... put one or two disputes in a letter and send it off. I try keeping things short and to the point and try to only send one page plus any documentation I may have. It may cost more in the long run, especially since you are sending CMRRR, but it sure helps later to know that your letter got there and nothing was overlooked. RROJAS
Well, I sent all my letters 12/27. The only thing I have gotten back is the request for identificaton. Nothing about too many desputes. I also recieved both requests of identification from EQ and TU on the same day 01/08. I have read here on this site that some people send off one despute letter with everything listed. (Which somtimes have quite a bit of disputes) And I havent heard many people say that the CRA said anything about it. So I personally didnt see a problem sending off a couple letters with 2 on each. I perffered this way so the CRA's cant say "we must have missed that one".Im confident that my responses from the CRA will come back and the games will begin!!
