How do I find out how the big 3 verified some information

On November 29, 2008 I sent out a debt validation to a collection agency through certified mail. I waited until December 6, 2008 and sent a dispute with the big 3. Basically I was using the one two punch to get the stuff removed off of my report. Now comes January and I received a letter from Equifax stating that the item I disputed with them has been verified.

What I want to know is this how can I get the details of how and who verified this debt with? If anybody can point me to the right direction that would be greatly appreciated.

Read the link on Method of Verification (MOV).

Be sure to quote the FCRA statute and request the name, address and telephone number of the person who verified the account.

CRAs routinely respond to these requests with vague form letters saying the process is automated, there are no documents to show you, etc. in an effort to circumvent FCRA.

Also, CRAs take MOV requests as a new dispute/re-investigation request.

CRAs usually lie about who verified the account. For example, they claim courts verify public records, when in reality a 3rd party company such as Lexis-Nexis furnishes public record information to the CRAs and verifies disputes.
