Delta98
I have a car loan with Honda American Finance that is not showing any payments for the last 9 months on 2 of the 3 CRA. EX is reporting it accurately but both TU and EQ have no information for the last 9 months. I tried disputing and that didn't help. All the payments were on time and the balance reported on the loan by TU and EQ is now incorrect. Are these missing payments hurting my score? What should I do to get this loan reorted correctly. It seems the CRA's are very quick to report a late paymment but seem to drag their feet in reporting on time payments. Thanks for your help
OMGWhatHaveIdone
Contact Honda and ask them if they will report the correct information.
Bigwoodystyl
Honda is reporting correctly. In this case, it's an EX problem and an E-Oscar problem...It's not uncommon for 1 CRA to report correctly and 2 to report incorrectly. I wrote more about it in previous threads. Each DF only directly reports to one of the Big 3. Depending on the account type and on creditor-CRA agreements, the CRA will update "E-Oscar" for the other 2 CRA (sometimes they won't and your account will only be listed with 1 CRA). However, it's up to the other CRA to update their own consumer reports with this information they claim is "from the creditor/DF" but is really from E-Oscar via 1 of the 3 CRA via the DF...Therefore, it's not uncommon for 1 CRA to report something and to have another 2 CRA report something different. In the same situation, it's not uncommon for your creditor to report something and to have 2 CRA report it incorrectly (however, and obviously, 1 of the 3 will usually have it correct). This is due to complications in correspondence between the Big 3.In this regard, the "Big 3" are more reciprocally connected and interrelated than they'd ever like the general public to know.FWIW, most of the large banks directly communicate with EQ and most of the smaller regional banks have direct relationship with TU. If you read between the lines, you can understand that most of the information found on an EX report comes directly from E-Oscar and not directly from a creditor/DF...... (or course, each DF does have the ability to manually input E-Oscar directly and they have the ability to force-report to any of the Big 3 on an exceptional basis)It does little good to dispute with a CRA who does not have a direct relationship with your creditor (because your dispute will not force E-Oscar to update and the information will nearly always come back verified). Therefore, from the paragraph preceding this, you can see that filing a dispute with EX first will rarely get you anywhere. Also, you can see that disputing the same item repeatedly which has already been verified is a fruitless endeavor. Also, you can see why getting MOV from a CRA can be difficult.
