QM07
Hello Everyone:My EQ report has an inaccurate address listed as current. I want to correct this and send them my new address, however, the address on my license is not this new address so I anticipate problems in getting this adjusted in a timely manner.I was planning to send a color copy of my license, with a utility bill indicating my new address. Would this be sufficient in dealing with EQ?Thanks for your help in advance.QM07
zfire
Yes, that should be sufficient evidence to send. They'll update your addy with that. Creditors sometimes report addresses, and sometimes get them wrong, so if there are true inaccuracies it may be difficult to get it totally removed. OMGWhatHaveIdone
I would get a change of address card for your license from the Dept. of Transportation in your state. If you get pulled over and your address isn't correct, you may get a citation for that. (Happened to me once and cost me over $90 for that little mistake). Change of address cards are free. You submit that with your license and a utility bill along with a copy of the page from your CR showing the incorrect information. Make a notation on that copy that it's the wrong address and ask them to correct it. Make sure you send your letter CMRRR.
Ahntara
I agree with OMG. If you're going to attempt the correction of personal info on your CR, it's best to have your correct address on your ID(s). Get your license changed first... Bigwoodystyl
Unless you plan to live at your current address for a long period of time, I would postpone changing the address on your ID. (In Ohio, it's $25.75 just for a Driver License Address change). However, it's free to change the address when the DL expires, every 4 years. In Ohio, if the address on your registration/license isn't correct, you only need to carry proof of address with your registration to avoid a fine. YMMV. I, personally don't have a nickel to spare for a bureaucrat.Send the CRA copy of US Passport, plus proof of mailing (utility bill/credit card statement). I can't imagine that wouldn't be good enough.Even better, you can backdoor EQ (if you're not in a CSC state)... addresses usually fall off in online investigation (unless the address is linked to one of your TL) http://www.investigate.equifax.com
OMGWhatHaveIdone
You don't necessarily have to get a whole new driver's license just for a change of address. Most states will allow you to carry a change of address card WITH a driver's license. It doesn't cost anything for this card. QM07, I would check with NC's dept. of Transportation to find out where you can get this. They may have a web site which allows for you to apply online for it and then they just send you the card in the mail.
