Amerikaner83
Hey all, just thought I'd start a thread on my upcoming D-day. By D-day I refer to the nuptuals of me and Squeaker in April. April 25 to be specific. The point of this thread is just .....existence. There is no real point, i suppose other than having a place to talk about it. I saw Chasey's wedding thread and thought to myself "that'd be a good idea"...so I"m thieving it! So to start off with, It looks like we are going to go on a cruise for our honeymoon. We were kinda planning a hot air baloon tour and wine tasting in Napa Valley, but looking for other options gave us the cruise idea and it's a lot cheaper too! But it's really cool - starts in San Diego, goes to a couple towns in Mexico, then back to San Diego. 4 nights, 5 days - all for the same price as one night in Napa and a hot air baloon ride!So that's about it for this riveting installment...tune in later for more...if you're bored
mariner
Congrats! That trip sounds like the 'Love Boat'!

Dre
Sounds like a lot of fun and have a blast! I'm going to a wine tasting next week here in Austin, but it'll be nothing like Napa Valley.Hey, I found a GREAT, cheap, and organic wine called True Earth. It's a red wine; 3 wines in one. It's so good! I get it from HEB.Keep us posted on your D-Day!
cracrap
why in the he"doublehockeysticks" would you want to go into mexico at this point in time? are you not aware of what is going on down there?besides, im sure if you wait just a lil bit longer, it will come to you
matthewscott
...looking for other options gave us the cruise idea and it's a lot cheaper too! But it's really cool - starts in San Diego, goes to a couple towns in Mexico, then back to San Diego. 4 nights, 5 days ...In my opinion, you can't go wrong with a cruise. What other towns are you going to visit? Have you picked out any excursions yet?
Amerikaner83
what the hedoublehockeysticks is going on in Mexico, cracrap?Besides, it's a cruise so it's not like we're going to be driving through the rough and tumble countryside with our saddlebags....etcIt's ensenada, I do believe. And we're staying our last night in San Diego at a really nice hotel. Can't say which one since she's reading the thread too, and it's a surprise. But I will say this: It's a very very beautiful hotel.
Amerikaner83
OK So now I've booked the flights to San Diego and also booked the cruise. It's a 4 night cruise starting in San Diego, then going and spending the day/night in Catalina Island...then sailing to Ensenada (staying there the day.night), then back to San Diego. It's with the Carnival Cruise line, staying in a OceanView stateroom near the front of the boat. The boats themselves have lots of activities like bars, pools, etc...should be fun!We leave back for Seattle the day after our cruise ship comes back to San Diego, so we're going to spend the day/night in San Diego and stay at that hotel mentioned earlier. And all in all it's cheaper than the wine tasting/hot air balloon thingy which was only a day anyhow!

Amerikaner83
OK so a few things happened since I last updated this one...let's see...We went to Moscow for wine tasting...HIGHLY recommend a place called "Camas Prairie Winery" - local, WA/ID winery - makes some of the absolute BEST wines I've ever had! We settled on a Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon (sp?) and a Chardonnay for our wines, and a nice sweet champagne to go with our cake.Cake: This was rather easy: big cake so a few fake layers, but two flavors alternating: Chocolate with chocolate mousse/cream filling, and Vanilla cake with raspberry filling. Got the Tuxes all set for me, my boys, and the dads: Black one-buttons with platinum vests adn ties, me in purple tie and boutineer. Its all coming together, slowely but surely. My parents, truth be told, are being just a little bit of a pill with this whole thing...not in the way of them not liking Squeaker or anything, they do...it's just they have their own ideas and are not really wanting to give up some things they think THEY should be doing...they basically aren't too familiar with the role of GROOM's parents...lolBirthday this past Saturday...only reason I mention it is because we had a party for me and my grandma yesterday (Sunday) and we brought one bottle of each of the aforementioned wines with us to the party so my family can taste them and so my grandfather (ametur wine conneisuer) can give his opinion on the red (which i hate reds usually, I tolerate this one ) - they LOVED them all! Even my aunt, who doesn't drink loved the Riesling! So countdown time is almost a month....and I'm just a bit nevous!*almost forgot! Bachelor party is weekend before on the 18th - that should be fun!!

admin
Yeah, one thing I've learned from listening to my friends is for the groom (and his parents) to just get out of the way. It's the bride and the mother of the bride's show. They will have enough fights between them. All you really need to do is say "What time do I show up honey, and what color should I wear?" J_Snow
And if you don't get enough it will be disastrous but if you get too much you can just take it home after...Order more wine now....Trust me on this one...
Amerikaner83
not to worry J - we're ordering enough wine for 200 people (110 @ wedding)...and the best part is, if we don't use it, we don't pay for it! And of course we're taking several bottles home for ourselves
