Care Credit Loan Plastic Surgery

Recommended Posts

Question..

I need to take a loan through Care Credit for some upcoming surgery. I am deathy afraid to apply for fear of denial.

I have scores in the mid 600's - what is the probabilty I will get approved for 6000? Especially with the economy I am scared to death - BUT I just took out some 401K money I am going to pay off my cc's with because they call carry high balances, so hopefully this will help.

Any suggestions!??!

My fiance applied for this card for some emergency dental work, her fico's are around 730, but because of high utilization she only recieved a $1000 CL, which pretty much only gets you a set of xrays, a good cleaning, a cavity filled and a complimentary toothbrush these days. 88-)

True that. Whatever happen to not paying for so much at the dentist? I used to love going, but now I don't even enjoy going to the dentist or any doctor. Trying to break my bank :)

for the card or the loan?

There is a difference, from what I understand.

Not really sure if it is considered a loan or a card, but does it really matter? They issue a credit limit, you use that towards your dental/medical expenses, you pay it off in the alloted time, with interest depending on the payment option you choose.. Pretty simple stuff. If you are wondering how it will show up on a credit report, I have no idea. I highly doubt that whatever they give you will be enough to cover all the expenses of pretty much any work one needs to have done. I think the intent is more to just ease the burden of coming up with $$$ all at once. It's rare to find a dentist that will set up a payment plan..not sure about plastic surgeons.

I was approved for a $4000.00 All three scores in the mid 600's Bankruptcy, pd, judgment and collection.

I believe its through GEMB

We applied so my husband could get lasik, his procedure is 2500.00 since there was extra left I called the dentist to see if I could use it there, I was told you can use it anywhere they accept Care Credit, which is most dental/Medical/even Vetrinarian Places

I had scores in the mid 600s and was approved for a CL of $15,600 in early 2007. I used it once for MAJOR dental work and paid it off completely in November of 2008. IN January 2009 I was notified they had cut the CL down to $1,300 due to "high credit utilization" although I must point out that I have not opened any new lines, had any late payments, or went on any sort of credit binge...my utilization was about what it always is. Then, last week, I got another letter stating that because the account had been inactive they were closing it. So, the sad truth to this tale is the beating my credit score got due to the initial CL reduction and then the closure "Account Closed by Credit Grantor" simply because I wasn't using the account. Although I have upcoming dental work scheduled, I suppose I didn't spend money fast enough to suit them. Funny, you are damned if you have any high utilization or damned if you have no utilization in just a few months. Paying off $15,000 in a little over a year I would have thought would have demonstrated my creditworthiness to most lenders. I cannot tell you how appalled I am at the way GEMB does business. I'm wondering how long it will be before my WalMart card is altered.

That's terrible for the card to close that soon for inactivity. I sure wouldn't need another "closed by credit grantor" on my report.

aquamarinebug, I'm not sure if this is a silly suggestion or not. But since the surgery is necessary, have you considered taking the 401k withdrawal that you just made, and instead of paying down present cc balances, use it to make a down payment toward the coming surgery? If you make a prepayment, it might be easier to get approved for a much lower amount altogether, if you need additional financing.

Just a thought -

I really dislike Care Credit's practices as well. I have a card from them but don't use it, I only got it for an emergency vet visit and never used it after that. Sorry about your luck with them too..I guess you didn't rack up enough interest for them to keep your account open.
