misbhavn
I've never dealt with AFNI before, but from reading on here it seems they are the lowest of the low...or pretty close. So I go to the mailbox today and pull out a letter, obviously from a CA. I'm assuming it's a response to my DV request to Arrow. Low and behold, it's a dunning letter from AFNI of all people. Turns out it is from an old Spint account that is AT LEAST 12 years old.I mean really? They are trying to collect on a 12 yr old zombie debt? Hell, they were even gracious enough to offer me a settlement for 80% off the original $180. They must share info with NCO or Arrow somehow as I have DV'd both of them and now, suddenly, AFNI contacts me out of the blue.Part of me wants to bait the hook and call them up to see if I can get some violatoins out of them. Anyway, anyone have a good FOAD letter I can send? Maybe I can at least have a little fun with them.
wrenchdevil
I'd say that something to this effect would be sufficient:To whom it may concern,FOAD!kind regards, your name I think we'll be seeing a lot more of these sort of desperate attempts by CA's to collect on prehistoric debts, just hoping for a sucker here and there to fall for the spiel. Past SOL and too old to report to CRA's? Yep, they are fishing, desperate times call for desperate measures, because afterall, they do have payroll to make.. admin
Well, I would basically send them a nasty note - but state some protections. It's too bad the FOAD letter just doesn't work on its own....You might also tell them you are going to report them to the state AG's office. I realize the debt is time barred, so they can't sue or report to the CRA's. However , this was a legitimate debt so can't they try to collect as long as they like?Other than telling them this debt is time barred and telling them to C&D. what protections do I have?
