sunshine
OMG I need serious help! Found out in late december that we have 6 mortgage payments showing late on our CR, I had no idea until I pulled my report, I immediately went to bank found out that the payment I was paying bi-monthly should have been bi-weekly payments (god did I feel stupid) and I did this over a good year.....I immediately did right and caught up on the payments so I should have been current in January well now my January payment shows late? How can this be? I want to notify the bank because I know its not late I have reciepts what do I do. I have to refinance in April and I am so frustrated, I have never in 15 years had a late showing on my mortgage!!! Any suggestions, I really need to tackle this but not sure how to go about it Sunny
wrenchdevil
Did you get your mortgage through a local bank? If so, I'd get all your paperwork together, everything you have relating to payments, try and set up an appointment and talk to someone face to face. Explain the situation and see where it goes. If not a local company that you can actually sit down with, maybe find someone as high in the company as possible that is willing to go over this with you, send them a detailed package/copies of all related paperwork and have a phone conversation, with them having all of your documentation in front of them. You may want to try posting this in the mortgage forum? jq26
You may still be behind because every missed payment may have accrued fees. My late fee is $60. If you missed 26 payments, that's $1500 in late fees. Did you catch up on the fees as well? If not, some of your payment was probably applied to the fee first which could leave a past-due balance remaining on your mortgage.
