Slow Eddie
I checked my wife's TU fico score the other day and was surprised to see 655. I did some digging and found a new collection for $55 from a dentist that she had seen years earlier. Apparently my insurance didn't cover something they said it would, and the dentist was sending the $55 bill to an old address. So I call the dentist and tell them we never got a bill. I tell them I will pay the bill no problem, but I am going to pay them not the collection agency. They said I had to pay the collection agency and there is no way to recall the debt even if it was a honest error on their part sending it to an old address (they had our current address on file, but sent it to an old address for whatever reason).Anyway, long story long, after 20 minutes of arguing they finally called the collection agency and got the debt back. So we went and paid it at the dentists office, and the collection agency mailed us a letter saying it would be off our report.I checked my wifes TU fico score today to see if it was gone yet. Score was 756. One measily collection for $55 was costing us 101 points!Eddie

Unfortunately I was screwed around and my dentist who promised to pull it back once I paid him did yet the CA told me to go beat sand and to this day it still remains. Its the hardest TL I have ever had to get removed from my CR. I'm happy for you and it gives me hope as well
