lusal99
I have received four summons from four differnt Casinos, two in Connecticut and two in New Jersey, one of the Connecticut summond was filed in New York. The summons are for credit that I took in each Casino between June and July of 2008 and have not been able to pay off.I lost my job in 2008 and I had enough money invested in a Mutual Fund to pay for the debt but I have not been able to liquidate those funds because the Fund is frozen.I have put my house up for sale 8 months ago without any luck yet, I have enough equity on my house to pay for all the debt, once the house it's sold I am planning to pay for all the debt.My question is what to do about all the summons that I received, I have talk to the Casino's credit Departments many times but since I could not come up with the money they referred the case to their lawyers, I have talked to the different lawyers also and explained the situation and they still servd me with summons.I would appreciate if you could tell me what would be the right thing to do next. Thanks in advance for your help. ShortBus
I can understand the people who are here for defaulted student loans, or mortgages that they can't pay. But casino debt? At four separate places!? If you want to know the right thing to do, it's to call Gamblers Anonymous. You're going to be sued and will almost certainly lose. Not much that you can do about it at this point. And there's probably not much advice anyone here can give you about it either. But you can certainly do something about your larger problem by picking up the phone and calling GA.
