Think about Debt management plan. it's probably a good route out of debt.
Bad advice. All debt fixers are scams...so screw you a little, most screw you a lot.

Call your creditors. Explain what's happened. Tell them you'll begin paying again when you find work. Use what money you do have coming in to pay for food, housing, and care of your family.

There are many scam debt managment plans out there.

$5400....what is the situation?

If he has $100,000 in assets, I hardly think this is a crisis.

If he has no assets, and is also paying on a $30,000 car, that needs some proper planning. Maybe selling the car and getting a beater, and then work on the credit card debt.

This is all relative to his asset/employment situation.

Is there unemployment or something, that he can't just plow $500/month for 12 months toward the card to get rid of this.
