Authorization For Medical Treatment Not Obtained At Hospital

Recommended Posts

My attorney wrote a letter to Tenet Corporation (Certified-Return Receipt was received) stating that Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah, Florida never obtained my authorization for treatment when taken to the ER by ambulance. I now have received a collection notice from Central Financial Control Collection Agency. I would like some advice on what to do next. I thought I would file a Small Claims in Miami-Dade County, but, I would like to hear the forum's advice please. This is my very first post as a new member.

Just because a hospital did not get your authorization for treatment does not mean they are not entitled to payment if you were taken to the ER by ambulance. I have to make an assumption that it was some sort of emergency if an amulance was involved.

People would die if a hospital had to wait for written authorization to treat people that were brought in on emergency basis. It is not reasonable to think they can't treat and bill people for their work just because they lack a signed treatment form.
