I got a letter from afini, old Qwest phone bill..

I looked so sorry if its been asked, whats the SOL on home phones?

what does it fall under ( contract open accounts?)? SOl is 6 years in Wa, time up is in sept. not showing on CR. as a collection, but does show a inq from Afini in 08.

wierd thing what they sent says , balance forward 227, they say amount due 120.. but only shows credits, , I *think* this was a sons account that was sent to my address since he is disabled,( had the phone assistance program), they offered to settle for 60.

looks like something they printed off a computer, not a standard phone bill

should I contact Qwest? or just ignore them..,I saw something about Cell phones but not home service, I cant seem to find anything on the FCC site either

Write and tell them to call you on the number they want the money for 8-)

SO far as I am aware the SOL is 2 years regardless of it being a land line or a cell. The one thing I have no clue about is if it makes a difference if it is on the assistance line, in so much as would that make it a business line ( whihc I understand are subject to different reg) because of the terms of any specific contract? I doubt it but you know by now how weird I like to get. The devil is always in the detail :p

do you know the Regulation/ code?

it falls under resident line, want to send a FOAD but want to list the law on this,, LOL ya they can call it all day been off since 2004, i am not even sure the phone numbers correct. there would be no written contract, but maybe, just maybe something under the assistance/ case number? anyone can just call up and start a phone service with min information,

I would still tell them to call just for the giggle factor in seeing how long it takes them to figure it out lol

Resident line it is 2 years under fed regs. FOAD away :)++

what catagory would a phone fall under for SOL ( if not the 47 USCS § 415) one? I am going to guess open contract?

The statute is for landline residential or cellular service. In fact, I believe it was written before cellular was as common as it is now.

"Common Carrier" is defined in the Code

Common carrier. The term "common carrier" or "carrier" means any person

engaged as a common carrier for hire, in interstate or foreign communication by

wire or radio or in interstate or foreign radio transmission of energy, except

where reference is made to common carriers not subject to this Act; but a person

engaged in radio broadcasting shall not, insofar as such person is so engaged,

be deemed a common carrier.
