Finally some relief for strapped student loan borrowers!

The Federal Student Aid site

This program has it's own

Some families won't have to pay anything, while some will have a much lower payment. At first I thought this might be a hoax - I watched the cartoon first - but then I got to Googlin' and found it's totally legit. I heard it first on Facebook

I have a Ford loan of over $100,000 that's currently in good standing through deferments, but I have a small student loan that was originally a bank loan that is currently in default. It was purchased by Brazos Higher Education, and I think they're still the debt holder... but they may have sold it since it's in default (due to long period of unemployment). I'm getting calls demanding payment of the full amount (under $8000, but still way more than I can afford to pay). I paid on it for years, and at one time had it below $4000, but I think they've hit me with a bunch of penalties or something. Is there a way I can rehabilitate this loan and get the charge off off my credit report?
