zxd
Hello,A collection agency I had a feud with sent me a letter saying that they are dropping collections. They also told me that Experian and TransUnion have been notified to delete the entry completely. I checked my credit report today and saw that the entries are still there, how long does it usually take for a collection ding to disappear from one's record?Thank you,ZXD
NurseRobert
I would give it 30 days, but then, Im still new at this!
unusualsuspect
If you can, send copies of that letter to the bureaus, and inform them that failing to delete is a FCRA violation and you'll sue.
zxd
Should I use the dispute function online on the respective CRA websites or do I have to do this by mail? If I did it onilne, my plan would be to state "Creditor ceased collections, sent letter notifying deletion" or something of that sort.
willingtocope
As a general rule, the CRAs ignore any "evidence" sent by the consumer, even if you do threaten to sue. Give it 30 days, and if the TL doesn't disappear then send a CMRRR to the CA reminding them of their agreement. Also, unless you're getting all reports directly from EX and TU, there's always an additional delay in seeing the latest info.... KittyG
I've actually received a couple nice letters from collection agencies that they are not longer collecting on a debt and they have sent documentation to the CRA's to remove from the CR's... I've called the CA to confirm and they said it may take a few days or 30. It's up to them. I've sent the letter received from the CA to the CRA's and items were removed within a few days. I have an alert watch on my credit and that took the following month to send me the alert with items removed and increase to my credit score. Now, if you're talking about Experian? Well, they do what ever they want and when ever. I don't know how that Co still exists with all the complaints????
